Fixed Temperature Heat Sensing Cable
Protectowire Linear Heat Detection Cable is a heat sensing cable that detects a build up of heat anywhere along its length. Protectowire is available with a choice of temperature settings and an alarm is initiated when the rated temperature is reached.
The sensor cable comprises of two steel conductors individually insulated with a heat sensitive polymer, then wrapped with a protective tape and finished with a choice of outer covers to suit the environment in which the cable will be installed.
Available in five different temperature settings and three outer cover options, the cables can be used in a wide range of applications including (with the aid of intrinsically safe barriers) those in hazardous areas.

The insulated conductors are twisted together to impose a spring pressure between them. At the rated temperature, the heat sensitive polymer insulation yields to the pressure between conductors, permitting them to move into contact with each other acting as a switch providing an on / off "digital" contact. It is not required that a minimum specific length be heated in order to initiate an alarm. Changes in ambient temperature have no effect on the operation and alarm temperature of the cable.

Ordering Details
Cable is supplied in multiples of 100 metres with a maximum of 1000 metres per reel. Please specify the cable reference number, total length required and, where necessary, the preferred lengths for each reel.
