Fixed Temperature Heat Sensing Cable
By using special heat sensitive polymers, the range of cables provide a means of detecting the early stages of a fire or excessive overheat conditions along their length.
The cables are constructed with two tinned copper covered steel conductors each with a thermoplastic insulation and an overall sheath consisting of a polythene braid or extruded pvc.
For arduous environments and improved ultra violet and chemical resistance, the cables are available with a nylon sheath.
The cables operate when the inner insulation melts allowing the two conductors to act as a switch providing an on/off 'fixed temperature' signal to the associated control panel. The cables can be continuously monitored for open circuit fault with a conventional end of line resistor.
Available in five different temperature settings the cables can be used in a wide range of applications (including with the aid of intrinsically safe barriers) those in hazardous areas.

Typical Applications
Digital heat detecting cable has been used to monitor a variety of risks Some of the applications include:
Power generation - cable tunnels, conveyors, turbine acoustic enclosures, boiler fronts, oil storage areas, steam leaks and hot gas escapes.
Petrochemical - rim seals of floating top tanks, pipeline valve stations, product pumps, compressor housing, fixed top tanks and spheres.
Transport - road and rail tunnels, escalators, locomotives and rolling stock, vehicles, ship's machinery spaces and car ferry decks.
Pharmaceuticals - fume cupboards, fluid conveyors and glove boxes.
Food industry - cold stores, driers, extractor hoods and ductwork

Cable is supplied in multiples of 100 metres with a maximum of 1000 metres per reel. Please specify the cable reference number, total length required and where necessary preferred lengths for each reel.
